Kuali Student Service System - Building a Service-Oriented Architecture and Platform for Development
The Kuali Student Service System will be a Next Generation Student System based on a Service-Oriented Architecture built on Web Services. This presentation will outline the vision, objectives, and the approach for developing Kuali Student. It will also describe the technical principles that will be used to develop an architecture and a development platform that can be used not only to create the student system, but also potentially other distributed, service-oriented systems.
Catherine is an Information Systems Professional with over 24 years of experience, who has been involved in all aspects of System Development and Management. Her areas of expertise include large project management, leadership of IT departments, strategic and tactical systems planning, systems integration, and application design and implementation. Most recently, Catherine has been employed at the University of British Columbia as the Director of Applications. In this position, she was responsible for full life cycle management of many of the University's key applications including setting strategic direction, overseeing implementation of new technologies and maintenance and support of existing technologies. Prior to working at UBC, Catherine has held the following positions: Managing Director for Eclipse Management Corporation, Director of GNA Consulting Group, and Consulting Manager for Oracle Corporation Canada. Catherine holds a Masters Degree in Business Administration from the Richard Ivy School of Business as well as a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science from the University of Western Ontario.
